spending the weenend in the hospital with Stephen has given me a lot of time to look out windows. lucky for me the hospital has a beatuifull view of roling pine coverd hills. my favorite thing to do has been towatch the sun rise over the hills lighting the dark clouds to a bright orange. i have learned to draw pine tree covered hills pretty well, it was harder than i thought. well all this fixating over hills and landscapes let to a pretty dream. i dremt me and robert and stephen were at home when a earthquake struck. but it was not a ordinary earthquake but a prophetic earthquake, robert explained. sometimes when there is a great change in life of the earth it rumbles to let everyone know- he explained. so we all went outside to notice that mt hood was glowing in the night sky like a pearly white shimmer. as we all looked at it we noticed there was a firey orb at the base. it was really pretty. the rest of the dream was us looking at it in awe.

lady on the shelf in the wall
there was a martha stewart like lady who lived on a shelf in my house who gave me constant advice about my life and how to keep things going ok. thats pretty much the gist of it.

(no joke there were hellians). we escaped that night from bellingham and are all ok. really
last week i played a show with a really great band called aan, at berbaties pan. they are kinda like the liars meets tom waits meets modest mouse. and really good.
i will be playing a show with them this wednesday november 8th at valentines on ankeny st between 2nd and 3rd between berbaties and ash st.

end of the world dreams
over the last couple of days i have been having these funny and wierd end of the world dreams. the funny thing is that the dreams take place mostly after the world has already ended. and they all take place in philadelphia. There are still tons of people on earth at the end of the world. wich really makes it not the end of the world. but mostly its just anarchy and im trying to protect family members or friends from evil people tryign to steal our shoes. frlank black makes a cameo .... but just incase you wanted to know according to my dreams the world ends first by tsunami then by a killer hurricand and finally a hail of commets. so be warned.
right this very moment im in seattle recording a new heavy lids piece with yann novak and cameron from son of rose. its been lots of labor setting up and getting the right sound. lots of amps are involved. lots of wires and batteries and adapters. but i am really excited. its most likely going to be an hour long piece that slowly progresses into a comfy haze. i fell asleep just playig my guitar yesterday practicing it. yann fell asleep too. so be carefull dont listen to it while driving or something.
also when yann was visiting portland a month back we recorded a piece where processed my guitar. the piece is called "oh inevitable datum" and will be released soon on dragons eye as a limited edition 3" cdr. the cd has a really beautifull photo on the cover of a sculpture by erich ginder who makes some amazing things.
the american grizzley release of heavy lids full length cd "clouds are a blanket" is out and you can get one from me or them.

during my stay this weekend i have had some of the most amazing food ever! so i figured id take some time to post the names of the resturants here. first of all the best food i have ever eaten on this planet is made by a little resturant called "sitka & spruce" sitkaandspruce.com i cant even describe it. yann also took me to some places in his neighborhood the "id" international district. a really great chinese resturant called "jade garden" we sat at a big table with signs around it saying "danger dont touch" and again with chinese characters which i assume was the same thing in chinese but im not going to put any money on that. then we ate sushi at (spelling is always questionable on this blog) "maneki" which was fantastic. and breakfast at a creepy train car diner called "andys diner".

road dangers
well the heavy lids show in seattle went with out a hitch and was as perfect a show as i can ever hope for. great audience and both tyler potts and yann novak were just amazing. even though the room got hot it was a great event. i got to use my light up fan. we stayed with good friends jd and ian and they were great hosts. the whole weekend was just great. so thanks everyone who made it great for me. im gonna say great just one more time.
well so then we arrived back in portland and picked up gus the dog from the kennel he was all cute and clingy. then that night i had the most horrible night terrors. 2 waking up the whole house 2xs. there really is no end to my crazy dream thing. im always nervous when i sleep over a friends house. wondering what crazy antics ill do in my sleep. any one who has known me for any time knows that this is my issue. that if i sleep over thieir house ill probably end up sleepwalking and getting stuck behind some furniture or in a closet. or just talking my head off. every roomate of mine has a story or two.... my highschool buddy dave would for instance tell you about my gordons fisherman night mare. the one that led me sleepwalking following a floating letter around his house till i got stuck behind his entertainment center in his parents living room. my roomates in college would like to tell you about the time i got up in the middle of the night and walked out of the dorm into the hall only to return and empty the medicine cabinet in the bathroom and then return peacefully to bed. well my new schtick seems to be jumping up in bed and pointing out various demons and ghosts in a trance like terrified way. totally freaking out whom ever happens to be in the room. i mean waking up to someone screaming "what the hell is that" while feavershily pointing to a dark corner is just plain terrible. but i guess this is how its just gonna be for me. so the recent batch of night terrors seem to be focosed on people coming into my room and then running out again. the one that had me so freaked out on sunday night was a little girl scurrying around on all fours then running up the wall and out the window. this just blew me away . i dont think i have ever been so scared. oh well
so then later in the week im working all crazy and long hours still not sleeping well. im driving home after a long day and i hit something that makes my car go bonkers. i pull over adn find a screw driver pointing out of my tire. i mannaged to change the tire and slink home. but then today it was crazy everywhere i looked there were discarded screw drivers all over the place in the middle of the road. it was like some evil plot to get my car or something. i was so angry at all the screwdrivers!! a once helpfull tool turned tire flattner. so just a word to the wise always look out for them.

3 terrible dreams
for the last couple of weeks i have been having a really strange kinda repeat dream. they are short and terrifying. there have been 3 of them and they worry me. i wake up in a frantic state looking around the room (half asleep) when i look to the right side of the bed there is a person standing there looking like they are bracing to jump at me. the people are not just shadowy figures but fully clad in really detailed fall clothing. unusual for my dreams to have such detail but i can remember the clothes these people are wearing down to the sneakers. they are 3 of them like i said. they are similar but diferent like they could be releated. all of them wear glasses. so the look like they are gonna jump at me they have wierd evil smiles. then they just vanish....... terrible.

wow its been a long time since i have posted on here
im sorry ! please for give me!
i have been really busy though !!! tons of news stuff. not one but 2 heavy lids cds due out this year. furst up "clouds are a blanket" on american grizzley records. as soon as i get off my ass and send him the covers i made. they are hand printed digipaks with clouds on them spitting deadly arrows ! yes deadly arrows at the un suspecting ground beow. then yann at dragons eye recordings will be putting out "full moon is a panic" that due out in the fall. but look for a track from it on a great compilation neatly packaged called "paper" its a one year anniversity thingy. ill be playing in seattle with other bands on the lable to celebrate its release. it looks really great yann has a nack for simplicity in design and materials. its a keeper for sure. ok and now for the everything is fine news. well i think i need to ask for help out of my little musical hole ive fallen into. HELP!! i im stuck in here and i cant get out just dig further and further into a dark cave. i have been working on a new eif record for over a year now. and i have re re re re recorded over and over. changed songs and added new ones and then gone back to the begining several times now. slowly a really dark and bleak record is developing. kinda like it has its own mind i have been calling it "cave songs" and it is killing me !!! im really attached to it though. like a evil baby or something. its sounding sparse lowfi dark and repetitive. but im pretty sure im close to the end! i have maybe 2 more songs to record. hopefully i can keep my self from starting compleetly over!! ha. im not sure if tract records will want to even touch such a difficult recording but i think it has a lot of merit. i mean why should music be all fun and party time. this one will be a good record to crawl into a cave with and do heavy pain killers. you need it you know it! no fun now or ever! any way its really a world apart from "ghosts are knocking on walls" its not lush or popy at all. there are no drums. just little echoey knocks and ticks. i got a lot of inspiration form old blues recordings form the 40s where there is just lonely dirty guitars and a lonely dirty sounding voice. i have been thinking of maybe breaking the songs into eps so that its easier to digest. not too much a poision pill so to speak. well ill post more here as it happens.

aliens beat ghosts
last night i dremt that i was on the show "days of our lives" and i was caught up with all the dramma and bickering with all the characters, when all of the sudden i started turning into a mountain! i just grew into one spur of the moment. everything and everyone is lost on my flanks and the episode is then about how everyone makes their way out of my wildernes. then there is a little side episode and it has nothing to do with the rest of the dream. im in a mobile home out in the woods and i can see thru the walls at times and i notice that a evil spirit is lurking out side and keeps circiling the trailer. it looks like a black blob in the dark with a hood kinda. and it keeps coming up to the door and then slinking back into the wooods. just then an alien comes out of a room in the trailer. its aparent to me that the alien is keeping me hostage in the trailer for some reason. the alien looks like the standard alien with big eyes and all dressed in black. the alien is aware of the evil spirit and is pissed at it. he reaches his hand out toward where the blob is waiting in the woods and his hand extends thru the walls and out side in stabbing motions trying to grab the demon. and missing, but the demon is obviously afraid of the alien and slinks away. im afraid of the alien but more afraid of the evil spirit out in the woods so im glad the alien has scared it away........
so i end up lost on my own mountain locked in a mobile home with a alien and a evil demon .

blinking eyes in all the trees! and reincarnated mormons.
first off hi sara!
some strange dreams last night!! i just woke up so ill just type them out with all kinds of spelling and gramar errors just like you love ..... right?
the first one is a really good one! it was mostly visual butill try and describe it here best i can, the dream starts out and im in a movie theater taking pictures of the trees in all the shots. as im doing this i realize that there are blinking reflective eyes in all the trees! it dosent seem to have anything to do with the movie so it was puzzling. after the movie i go home and print out the pictures and i can see that they are strange monsters that can be huge or tiny and they live in the tops of all the trees watching us. i go out side and notice that they live in all the trees in real live not just in the movie i saw! so i get all my pictures together and now im in philly for some reason. i take my pictures around to all my friends by to try and show them the horrible discovery! im in a place in the city where there are hardly any trees so its kinda like a safe zone. though there are no incidents of these tree demons ever attacking people. they just watch. so to get around to all these people to show them my pictures, which i have all tucked into a cardboard folder, i need to take a taxi. and after each meeting i have to share the taxi with that person to somewhere else and try to get to the next place. its kinda like a maze! and i get real frustrated and only end up showing stuff to bruce willis.... he gets real freaked out and hellen hunt shares a taxie with us but doesnt care about the demons in the trees she has bigger worries......
now there are some ties to reality here. when i lived in south philly there was a tree out side my window which was on the second story. one night a drunk bum with a scared and disfigured face (no joke) climbed that tree and looked into my window. i heard some noise and looked out my window only to see this creepy drunk smiling face looking back at me from the tree!!! i dont think i have ever been so scared!!! my roomate at the time lived right above me so i ran up to her room and we cowerd and freaked out as we watched him climb down the window and staggar off. so i think this dream had something to do with that. as far as bruce willis and hellen hunt go i have no explanation for that! sorry
so here is dream number two
it involves mormons but truth be told i have no idea really of how mormons feal about reincarnation,
in the dream im in a big wooden room like a ball room that is really old and dimly lit. its full of mormons and my mom is playing music in some group up front and im guessing that that is why im there. im having fun though and some mormons are asking me if i believe in reincarnation! now in real life as well as in this dream i have a pretty strong view on that. i think its kinda a littly story book to think that you will come back as you again, so i begin to explain to the groupe of mormons that have gathered around me that i dont really buy that. i say " well i think that the spirit is like a glass of watter and water is the same mollecular make up as all the watter on earth. and people are like a cake. all the other stuff needs the water and makes it special but eventually all that cake will be eatten but the water will be extracted by the body of what ever has eatten it it will be evaporated and come back as rain into some lake where it will be filtered and end up back in a glass and maybe back in a cake but a totaly diferent cake and the chances it will be a cake like the last one are slim" or something like that. the mormons give up on converting me and leave me alone so i walk over to where my mom is playing some music instrument that i have never seen before and really the group is not really making music but some combination of light and tone, its strange but instead of flowers i have given my mom a huge block of chocolate that has been wrapped in butchers paper. and she has been playing a bunch of these shows so i have apparently gotten her lots of blocks of chocolate. later i realize that she is not eating the chocolate but saving it and planning on giving it back to me.
no star cameos in that one.... but a strange one at that.
well in other news i have a show comming up april 21st in seattle. ill post where adn when as i find out the details but it will be with the great bands volans and levi fuller.
im also in the middle of figuring out how im gonna record all the new material i have. i go back and forth form finding a friendly place here (but truth be told so far no luck) too much attitude.. or flying back to philly and doing it there which woudl be perfect and wonderfull. but expensive.either way i want to do it in may or june. er i duno,,,,,
oh and lots of new drawings on the way lots of them. all about rainbows and wall paper .....

the first one is a really good one! it was mostly visual butill try and describe it here best i can, the dream starts out and im in a movie theater taking pictures of the trees in all the shots. as im doing this i realize that there are blinking reflective eyes in all the trees! it dosent seem to have anything to do with the movie so it was puzzling. after the movie i go home and print out the pictures and i can see that they are strange monsters that can be huge or tiny and they live in the tops of all the trees watching us. i go out side and notice that they live in all the trees in real live not just in the movie i saw! so i get all my pictures together and now im in philly for some reason. i take my pictures around to all my friends by to try and show them the horrible discovery! im in a place in the city where there are hardly any trees so its kinda like a safe zone. though there are no incidents of these tree demons ever attacking people. they just watch. so to get around to all these people to show them my pictures, which i have all tucked into a cardboard folder, i need to take a taxi. and after each meeting i have to share the taxi with that person to somewhere else and try to get to the next place. its kinda like a maze! and i get real frustrated and only end up showing stuff to bruce willis.... he gets real freaked out and hellen hunt shares a taxie with us but doesnt care about the demons in the trees she has bigger worries......
now there are some ties to reality here. when i lived in south philly there was a tree out side my window which was on the second story. one night a drunk bum with a scared and disfigured face (no joke) climbed that tree and looked into my window. i heard some noise and looked out my window only to see this creepy drunk smiling face looking back at me from the tree!!! i dont think i have ever been so scared!!! my roomate at the time lived right above me so i ran up to her room and we cowerd and freaked out as we watched him climb down the window and staggar off. so i think this dream had something to do with that. as far as bruce willis and hellen hunt go i have no explanation for that! sorry
so here is dream number two
it involves mormons but truth be told i have no idea really of how mormons feal about reincarnation,
in the dream im in a big wooden room like a ball room that is really old and dimly lit. its full of mormons and my mom is playing music in some group up front and im guessing that that is why im there. im having fun though and some mormons are asking me if i believe in reincarnation! now in real life as well as in this dream i have a pretty strong view on that. i think its kinda a littly story book to think that you will come back as you again, so i begin to explain to the groupe of mormons that have gathered around me that i dont really buy that. i say " well i think that the spirit is like a glass of watter and water is the same mollecular make up as all the watter on earth. and people are like a cake. all the other stuff needs the water and makes it special but eventually all that cake will be eatten but the water will be extracted by the body of what ever has eatten it it will be evaporated and come back as rain into some lake where it will be filtered and end up back in a glass and maybe back in a cake but a totaly diferent cake and the chances it will be a cake like the last one are slim" or something like that. the mormons give up on converting me and leave me alone so i walk over to where my mom is playing some music instrument that i have never seen before and really the group is not really making music but some combination of light and tone, its strange but instead of flowers i have given my mom a huge block of chocolate that has been wrapped in butchers paper. and she has been playing a bunch of these shows so i have apparently gotten her lots of blocks of chocolate. later i realize that she is not eating the chocolate but saving it and planning on giving it back to me.
no star cameos in that one.... but a strange one at that.
well in other news i have a show comming up april 21st in seattle. ill post where adn when as i find out the details but it will be with the great bands volans and levi fuller.
im also in the middle of figuring out how im gonna record all the new material i have. i go back and forth form finding a friendly place here (but truth be told so far no luck) too much attitude.. or flying back to philly and doing it there which woudl be perfect and wonderfull. but expensive.either way i want to do it in may or june. er i duno,,,,,
oh and lots of new drawings on the way lots of them. all about rainbows and wall paper .....

songs from another place! finally out!
i got an email today form my friends at awful bliss records in italy! they just released a compilation cd with lots of great bands on it! my song flash lights which is on there and exclusive to that comp! i actually wrote the song over 5 years ago! but just recorded the final version this year. an older version was recorded for the un released first eif cd "lights like fans bullets like rain" but it didnt make the final cd which intern never saw the light of day either. the song is about 2 things one real life and one dream! i had a dream where me and a shadowy friend were running thru the forest really fast. then the atmosphere changes as we are chased by flashlights till we cant run anymore.... and i think i had that dream after me and my friend scot would hide in the woods when we were kids and throw dirt clumps at the near by houses. sometimes people would come running out of the houses and chase us thru the woods. it was always dusk and hard to see. scott was always better at seeing who was chasing us and always found us a good place to hide and wait out our chasers.

i took down the drawings from the portland art center show today. i was suprised to find out that i had sold 2 drawings! and some books. i think im gonna use some of the money to pay for mastering of the new record i have been working on when its ready! i have decided not to go to a studio and use the bulk of material i recorded at home and just get them mastered real good!! i think i only have to re record a couple songs..... that should happen in a week or so.

red weather tigers!
hey if you like to spend time floating round myspace check out my side project red weather tigers "http://www.myspace.com/redweathertigers" its a long distance collaboration with grumpy bear (az) and theath (richmond indiana) and me (portland oregon) we are in the middle of trading files back and forth in the mail, as they are finished we will post some samples on the myspace page! right now there is a new song on there for you to check out!
also the reissue of the tract records will oldham tribute is done and shipping. it has covers from scout niblett, calexico, mark kozelek, court and spark, and iron and wine. The first 400 orders will receive ENGAÑO. A Tract records compilation featuring many of its artists and associates covering each others' songs. everything is fine covered pink nasty's trench coat blues. and tiger saw coverd everything is fine's mt erebus. ALSO!! tract is putting out a compilation called "what are teh museums doing" its a bunch of great muscians that thomas at tract found on my space but has nothing to do with promoting myspace. there is a new eif song on there called "in winter-in summer" demo version. you can order and listen to some samples here http://www.tractrecords.com/TR035.htm. and lastly look for the tract comp "eye of the beholder4" to be released soon. it will feature teh eif song "god damn song" its a song i wrote over a year ago about my anxiety about driving with road raging maniacs!

a stuffed dog and a piano and kung fu zombies and a mummified head
so stuff is hapening !!!

so wow i havent had a dream in a couple weeks and then i get slammed with 2 doozies!!
ok first one
i guess im in a book store looking at large format picture books. this one in particular is a book of pictures taken by nike designers or something like that. so im flipping thru the book and i se a picture of a apartment building i lived in in philadelphia. and im so overwhelmed with nostalgia that i decide to go back to visit this appartment. when i get there i find the place is abandoned and falling apart with spiders and webs all over. for some reason all my old stuff is still there. there is a pile of more picture books (in real life i have a habit of hiding stuff in my books like letters and pictures) so i start looking thru my old art books and i find all these old letters and i keep putting them in my pockets, my pockets are getting so ful that i have to stop, but remember ther is one book that has a certain letter that i want to find for some reason, i decide to go up to the atic i get up there adn there are not really ghosts but like holograms of my roomates that lived there with me and i talk to them for a bit. just chatting, then i find a shrink wrapped pallet piled high of more of my books. and its blocking what seems to be a pasage to a smaller room. so the floor is creaky and unstable and its slow dangerous going but i finaly make it to this room, its set up lika an old 1800 living room with all the furnishings in place but covered in webs and dust. i see something moving in the corner of my eye and i fly over to it.(yes i can fly in this dream) there is a old piano in the corner which i remember really well for some reason but dont know from where or when, sitting next to the piano is a stuffed german shepherd all creepy and dusty and its moving when i look away slightly and its mean. i decide that its guarding the piano or maybe waiting for a dead master to come back and play the piano . i start to play it the dog attacks me and i crush it till its just dust. then a real german shepherd appears near the piano and he is real friendly and happy, like i freed him or something, so i start playing the piano and this really great feeling comes over me like i have played this piano before and i suddenly know all these really old songs adn the dog is howling next to me but its in tune and great!
dream 2
me and berto and sven are walking thru the woods for some reason and we see thru the trees some strange looking teenage girls walking thru the woods in some kinda trance. every time someone walks up to one of them they attack them brutally with kung fu. there seem to be more and more of them adn we start trying to figure how we are going to escpae the forrest with out getting killed by these zombie kung fu girls. some how we manage to give them the slip and we find there headquarters deep in the woods in an old mansion. they are like some kind of cult and there is a black robed woman who is ther leader who keeps them in a state of hypnosis. they live in these tiny little rooms with only a bed adn white walls and she appears on the walls in a hologram every morning and tells them to go out and conbert everyone they meet. the hologram is concluded every time with her fighting a bear! and throwing it out of a window! then she turns into a stag and the hologram fades out! so me and berto and sven decide to go and try to stop her. we find her room and she is not there. so we find a staircase that leads down to some kinda labratory. its dark down there and it looks like she has not been here for quite some time. we start lookilng around and we step on a mummified human head that was laying on the floor. it snaps and growls adn howls and is freaking out all over the floor in some kinda frenzy and we are all trying to keep out of its way as it thrashes around the room. it starts telling us somehting about how the cult leader woman did this to him. then she appears in a little ball of light and she is so upset by the sight of the head that she starts crying. the whold house falls appart and disapears and we are back in the forest again just walking around.....
